theprimarychannel is an exciting new learning and collaboration environment. Designed by edudigi, it lets staff and pupils use digital media to create and share their work in text, sound, still images, TV or film. It actively encourages collaboration and team working – between pupils and between schools.
Each school, each class, each teacher and every pupil gets their own studio space in which to work and their own broadcast channel to celebrate and share that work with others. Communication facilities that include text messaging, voice calls and video conferencing encourage and enable new friends, contacts and links around the corner - or around the globe. Schools, staff and children can set up their own TV stations, radio stations or web sites with blogs, podcasts, discussions, votes and more.

"I have been amazed and impressed with how quickly we have been able to start our own TV channel"Carole Carroll, Headteacher, Rift House Primary School
theprimarychannel offers a complete new virtual learning environment (“VLE”) that provides “any time, anywhere” working with a comprehensive set of facilities that actively foster learning. All users are given access to our growing Resource Library of articles, tutorials, "how-tos", and resources like video clips, sound effects, images and teaching resources that are free to use. Teachers have access to a separate channel, just for them, a professional space for discussion, development and where materials and resources can be stored and shared.
"The chance for students to work with cutting edge technology has captivated the whole school. We have a queue of children and adults wanting to be trained to work with the project."Nick Strong, Y5/6 Teacher, Hart Primary
edudigi operates a number of “channels” – web sites that are geared to the needs of a specific school age range. So, theprimarychannel.tv is aimed at primary or elementary schools, thesecondaryschool.tv caters for older children and thefechannel.tv provides for colleges and universities. In this way, not only are students using the service protected from outside Internet users, material which according to their age and development may not be appropriate is also restricted to only those for whom it is suitable.
A further channel – theprofchannel.tv – is reserved for use by teachers and other authorised staff, providing opportunities to engage in professional dialogue, communicate best practice, share resources and engage in professional development.
